UV Flexo
Fleksotisk Logar has purchased a six-color GIDUE F-Combat film press, the first sold in Slovenia. The 280-mm-wide flexographic press is equipped with six UV lampheads with integral chill rollers for heat management and joins a range of five existing flexo printing presses at the company.
A family-owned company established in 1987, Fleksotisk Logar serves the pharmaceutical, cosmetic, and food label markets printing on a variety of substrates including aluminium foils down to a 20-micron thickness, paper and polypropylene foils, PET foils down to 30 microns, and a range of self-adhesive foils. It also supplies self-adhesive labels for automatic and manual product labelling.
Production and quality manager Silvo Malovrh says, “We were impressed with the support GIDUE gave us during the purchasing and installation processes, and promises concerning performance of the press have been totally realized. The main reason we changed to the GIDUE press is that it is truly operator friendly. The Flower print head allows fast job changes, and the press gives us consistently high quality and productivity and is also very well suited for short run work.”
The Flower print head is so named because the print unit opens like a flower. Each element separates and becomes independent, reportedly making it immediately accessible for changes and adjustments.
Malovrh adds, “The NUVAplus UV system supplied on the press with integrated chill rollers from GEW is really innovative and a must for the kind of work we are producing. “
The NUVAplus lamphead was developed for UV curing on web-fed machines producing packaging (unsupported film through carton board). The lamphead reportedly offers high-performance curing at up to 200 W/cm arc length. A removable slide-out cassette houses all lamphead service items; lamp replacement reportedly can be achieved within 5 min.
Market Share to Grow
The F-Combat will enable Fleksotisk Logar to grow its market share in film printing, and while its main market is Slovenia, it also exports product to both Austria and Croatia. The company has its own in-house prepress department that enables full platemaking flexibility and fast customer response.
“We found the complete GIDUE team (from owners to workers) very innovative and ‘young thinking,’” says Malovrh. “I could say that my dreams have become true.”
