A rigorous two-day competition, in which high school students compete via a written comprehension test, math test, prepress, platemaking, and hands-on operation.

CHARLOTTE, NC, USA—According to Harper Corp. of America, the Phoenix Challenge High School Flexo Skills Competition is looking for companies to sponsor this popular event. Harper says sponsors will be recognized at the event as well as in media releases and literature about the contest.

In addition to sponsor cash donations, students need help with airfare costs. Says competition chair Bettylyn Krafft, "One of our biggest challenges is getting the [students] to Charlotte to compete. In an effort to defray costs, we are asking companies to donate Frequent Flyer Points to cover the schools' transportation to the competition. We know that during the economic crunch some companies may not be able to make financial donations, but we hope they can still contribute by donating air miles. We greatly appreciate all of the donations we've received thus far," she adds.

Harper says past sponsors include: Foundation of the Flexographic Technical Association (FFTA), PICA, Tag and Label Manufacturers Institute (TLMI), Harper, Anderson & Vreeland, The Charlotte Observer, All Printing Resources, Mark Andy, Parks Printing, Anagram, Benton Graphics, Raflatac, Cage Graphics, Southern Graphics, E.I. DuPont De Nemours & Co., Econo Products, Howard B. Vreeland Jr., Howard B. Vreeland Sr., Jet USA, Krafft Printing Systems, Water Ink Technologies, USA Advantage, Boardwalk Billy's, Krispy Kreme Doughnuts, and Carolina Snack Services.
