Alcan Pharma Center Installs Rotomec Gravure Press

BEDFORD, U.K.—Valmet Converting, manufacturer of Rotomec printing presses, reports the installation of a Rotomec 3000-5 ES gravure press at the Alcan Pharma Center, Shelbyville, KY, USA. According to Valmet, the Rotomec four-color press is designed to handle both aluminum foil and various plastic film types.

Valmet says Alcan installed the press to reduce the long lead times required for copy changes on pharmaceutical packaging. "Pharma Center [was] particularly impressed with the Rotomec ES technology, which allows quick and efficient changes even on short runs," adds the converting equipment manufacturer.

Says Sandy Hoehn, Alcan Pharma Center's marketing manager, "Nothing is more important to a pharmaceutical company than a prompt product launch. This press will allow us to respond quickly to requests for copy changes and to develop printed material far more quickly than before."

Valmet says the Rotomec gravure press was installed in the first quarter of 2002 at the converter's Shelbyville facility. "The plant is a world-class manufacturing center featuring high technology equipment for the production of flexible packaging for the healthcare industry." The Alcan Pharma Center is a division of the flexible packaging unit of Alcan Packaging, adds the co.
