Scodix Wins PIA Award

ROSH HAAYIN, ISRAEL | Scodix, provider of digital enhancement solutions for the graphic arts industry, was a recipient of a 2017 Printing Industries of America (PIA) InterTech Technology Award for the Ultra Pro with Foil digital press, said to transform a time-consuming analog and expensive process and to enable service providers and their customers to enhance their prints with vibrant foil treatments. Also allow users to apply variable data foiling, enabling them to personalize each print.

Added to the Ultra Pro, the Foil Station is an optional in-line module that delivers foil enhancement capabilities, including high gloss and embossed, in a variety of densities for short to medium runs. It deploys a wide range of hot and cold industry standard foil films, coupled with a variety of substrates, including offset, digital, plastics, laminated/non-laminated, and coated or uncoated applications for labels, packaging, and more.

“The judges were struck by the uniqueness of several applications on the Ultra Pro, such as its ability to produce braille text, crystals for product decoration, and dramatic holographic-looking 3D images,” says Jim Workman, VP at PIA’s Center for Technology and Research. “The use of product enhancement for high-end packaging and marketing has developed rapidly, in large due to the ability to apply foil and other enhancements in a completely digital workflow.”

PIA will present the InterTech Technology Awards at the 2017 Premier Print Awards and InterTech Technology Awards Gala (Sunday, September 10th) after the first day of PRINT 2017, September 10–14, at Chicago’s McCormick Place.

"We are honored to receive this award and proud of the impact Ultra Pro with Foil is reshaping our marketplace so quickly,” says Scodix CEO, Roy Porat. “This press has enabled users to realize the significant financial and marketing escalation, which is broadening their target markets and increasing their revenue. For our customers' clients, it’s transforming an ordinary marketing project into highly revered, and in many cases, award-winning, giving brands heightened appeal.”
