Appleton Expands into European Security Product Market with BemroseBooth Acquisition

APPLETON, WI, USA—Appleton reports it has acquired UK-based BemroseBooth, a manufacturer of security printed vouchers, payment cards, mass transit and car parking tickets, variable data labeling, high-integrity mailing, and niche publishing.

US-based Appleton manufactures carbonless, thermal, security, inkjet, and performance packaging products. Company CEO Doug Buth says Appleton's acquisition of BemroseBooth provides it with "immediate access to security product markets in the UK and Western Europe."

The total BemroseBooth purchase price, reports Appleton, was approximately USD60 million (approximately £34 million); the Derby, England-headquartered manufacturer employs nearly 850 individuals at manufacturing sites in Derby, Hull, and Teesside, England.

Buth says the combined resources of Appleton and its new subsidiary BemroseBooth together "create a significant provider of specialized and secure print products and integrated services." He adds that Appleton will provide the resources to enable BemroseBooth to accelerate its growth plans while continuing to operate independently.
