WASHINGTON, DC | The upcoming NPE2012 will be a busy place! A highlight of the event will be the International Plastics Design Competition (IPDC). Following is more exhibitor information in our continuing coverage of NPE2012.

The Nippon Synthetic Chemical Industry Co. (Nippon Goshei), Osaka, Japan, reports it will launch the first of a series of EVOH/specialty clay composites at NPE. Nippon Gohsei has entered into an exclusive global licensing agreement with Nanobiomatters Industries, Valencia, Spain, for the exclusive use of its O2Block barrier additive in EVOH composites. O2Block Barrier is Nanobiomatter’s proprietary clay-based additive said to improve the barrier properties of various polymers such as EVOH. (Visit Booth 50046)

The Dow Chemical Co., Midland, MI, will be the exclusive corporate sponsor of the Technical Education Program and Technology Central at NPE. In addition, Dow will sponsor what show owner/producer SPI: The Plastics Industry Trade Assn. calls Technology Central in the North-South Hall of the Orange County Convention Ctr. This will include the IPDC, four multi-exhibitor specialty pavilions, and a technology theater for presentations and demonstrations by exhibitors. Representatives of Dow’s Performance Plastics Div. will make 14 technical presentations at the colocating ANTEC conference, produced by the Society of Plastics Engineers. Dow adds that least eight global machinery manufacturers will be demonstrating processing of Dow resins production on the exhibit floor.

Among the offerings of bagmaking equipment supplier Mamata, Gujarat, India, will be servo-driven flat bed bag machines, available in solid roll and split roll configuration; servo wicketers; and servo-driven pouchmaking systems including the Vega 285 PM and Vega 356 and Vega 610/820/1020. The In-Mold Decorating Assn., Scottsdale, AZ, reports there will be “an incredible array” of IML and IMD opportunities for NPE attendees. Exhibiting for the first time at NPE, the IMDA will have on display a variety of in-mold labeled packaging and in-mold decorated durable products. Visitors to the IMDA booth will have the opportunity to see first-hand the winners of the 2011 IMDA Awards Competition, and association members will be on hand to answer questions about IMDA and to discuss in-mold labeling and decorating issues.
