FPA Becomes a Sponsor of R2R Conference

FORT MILL SC | The Flexible Packaging Association (FPA) is joining forces with the Association of International Metallizers, Coaters and Laminators (AIMCAL) and Society of Plastics Engineers (SPE) to present the AIMCAL R2R Conference USA/SPE Flexible Packaging Conference (FlexPackCon) 2018, Oct. 28–31, 2018, at the Wild Horse Pass Resort in Phoenix, AZ. FPA will sponsor at least six papers at the 2018 event. More than 400 attendees and 80+ exhibitors are expected to participate in the fifth joint technical conference organized by AIMCAL and SPE and devoted to roll-to-roll processing and flexible packaging.

“The past two years, we have included industry overviews from the FPA in the event,” says Donna S. Davis of ExxonMobil Chemical Co., who serves as general operating chair for SPE FlexPackCon 2018. “The industry perspective has been very well received, whether addressing the trends and drivers in flexible packaging—for example, rigid to flexible—or the threats and opportunities such as sustainability and single-use packaging. This year, we anticipate expanding the industry perspective with additional content recruited by the FPA, sharing industry studies they have sponsored.”

Alison Keane, president and CEO of FPA, says, “FPA is excited to expand its participation in the AIMCAL R2R Conference USA/SPE FlexPackCon event in 2018 by adding content and insights from the converter segment of the flexible packaging market. With more converter participation, the AIMCAL R2R Conference USA/SPE FlexPackCon more strongly connects the entire supply chain.”

The conference schedule features 100+ presentations organized in tracks devoted to subjects such as web coating and laminating, vacuum web coating, web handling and winding, adhesives and coatings, flexible packaging designs, and market/application requirements. A vendor session features suppliers promoting their product, service, or company in a three-minute presentation. Attendees also may register for opening-day short courses and participate in many networking opportunities including receptions in the Tabletop Exhibition area.

“With AIMCAL, SPE and FPA collaborating, it’s guaranteed to be a standout event!” says Milan Moscaritolo, president of AIMCAL.

Abstracts for presentations are due May 18, 2018, and must be submitted via the Call for Papers Form on the AIMCAL website or the SPE website.
