Sung An Machinery Opens Coating Center in Korea

 

GYEONGGI-DO, KOREA | Sung An Machinery (SAM) is scheduled to open a new Solution Coating Technical Center (SAMLab 3) at its headquarters in South Korea at the end of this year. It will be in addition to SAM's other technical centers, Extrusion and Printed Electronics. The line is designed for customer product development trials and demonstrations, toll coating, and solution coating trials. Company will also conduct internal research and development for the coating industry.

The machine is designed for running water- and solvent-based, 100% solids, and hot melt coatings with a maximum width of 1,040 mm at speeds to 1,000 mpm. The line will have modular coating capabilities of slot die, micro gravure, pressurized gravure, pressurized chamber doctor blade, direct/reverse gravure, S-knife (comma), reverse roll, semi-flexo, five-roll, and transfer roll to start.

Line includes a 22-m, seven-zone flotation and roll support dryer, said to be one of the largest in the industry. Features of the machine line include automatic turrets at the primary unwind and winder for continuous running. Additional features include a secondary unwind for wet and dry laminations, corona treatment, steam re-moisturizing, and UV curing.
