Celebrating 70 Years of ELBA: Modular, Innovative, Reliable
- Published: January 16, 2025
Since 1956, ELBA has been designing and manufacturing high-speed bag and pouch making machines, reaching more than 5,000 installations worldwide to date. Over 70 years of activity, ELBA’s customer-oriented philosophy has remained constant, focusing on modular machines that enable tailor-made and highly customized solutions.
Digitalization represents another key pillar of ELBA’s business approach. Through dedicated software, customers can access real-time advanced analytics, comprehensive production traceability, and detailed reporting, enhancing operational efficiency and process control.
ELBA offers a wide range of machines capable of producing different types of bags and pouches using both conventional materials and recyclable films, serving multiple markets including food, pet food, groceries, medical, pharmaceutical, and more.
The SA-V machine is suitable for producing stand-up/Doypack, side gusset, center seal, and 2- or 3-side seal pouches. It can process a wide variety of laminated materials and mono-PE recyclable films, both printed and unprinted, ensuring high performance and high-strength seals.
The SA-V/TVB model manufactures high-barrier shrink bags with straight or curved bottom seals and side seals. Its flexible collection system allows bags to be stacked or collected in a cascading arrangement on adhesive tapes.
The SA-U is designed for manufacturing bags with bottom and side sealings, gusseted bags, boutique bags, STEB, courier bags, heavy-duty bags, and more. A wide range of accessories can be installed, including string zippers, flexi loops, patch handles, rigid handles, and die-cut handles.
The SA-W has been developed to produce a wide range of wicket bags, such as bottom gusset bags, bread bags, poultry shrink bags, hygiene bags, and diaper bags. Bottom gusset forming, cross-handle insertion, and the paramount shape device are among the optional systems that further enhance production flexibility.
Dedicated to the medical and pharmaceutical markets, the SA-M machines can produce high-quality pouches, header bags, and flat and gusseted reels. Both the SA-M CH and SA-M RW can be equipped with a patented Chevron sealing station, featuring load cells for sealing parameter control and multizone heating elements to ensure a uniform temperature of the sealing area.
ELBA machines are fully equipped with Siemens components and managed by a state-of-the-art HMI based on Profinet®, one of the most advanced industrial communication protocols. This system allows independent, real-time control of each station and tool, ensuring precision and full oversight of the production process. Every station is servo-driven, plug-and-play, and designed to operate autonomously.
Thanks to the Siemens connection system installed across all machines, ELBA’s service department can provide real-time remote diagnostics and on-site technical support within 24 working hours. To further optimize production scheduling, the machines are also developed with tool-less systems that drastically shorten changeover times.
Attention to detail, high accuracy, and the perfect combination of technological and manufacturing expertise are the cornerstones of ELBA’s strategy.
