International Web Handling Conference Organizer Calls for Papers

STILLWATER, OK, USA—Sponsors of IWEB2005 are encouraging interested parties to submit astracts for the Eighth International Web Handling Conference.

According to organizers, the purpose of the conference is to expand the knowledge base in web handling and to provide researchers and engineers from various countries a forum to exchange ideas, present technological advances, and discuss future directions. Sponsors add that more than 1,000 engineers and scientists from fourteen countries attended the first seven international conferences on web handling.

Contributors are invited to submit unpublished original papers on the topics of interest (see below). Papers will be selected by the program committee based on an abstract not exceeding 500 words which describes the basic problem, methods used, and results and conclusions. Abstracts are due December 1, 2004.

Topics of interest include:

  1. Longitudinal Dynamics and Tension Control
  2. Lateral Dynamics and Control
  3. Out-of-Plane Dynamics (e.g. Web Flutter)
  4. Winding and Unwinding
  5. Wrinkling
  6. Measurement of Physical Properties
  7. Sensors and Signal Processing
  8. Slitting and Runability
  9. Air Support Conveyance

Spsonors say IWEB2005 is intended to be a forum for engineers and scientists interested in exchanging technical information on concepts and innovations in web handling. "A program committee comprising members of the organizing committee and international program committee will review abstracts and make decisions on acceptability," says IWEB2005 organizers. "Papers with commercial or sales elements will not be accepted. The committee also reserves the right to review the final manuscript to assess the appropriateness of the paper for the conference."

All papers will be published in the PROCEEDINGS of the IWEB2005 Conference. Following the conference, authors may submit papers to journals of their choice.
