AIMCAL and SPE Continue Partnership

FORT MILL, SC | Building on the success of 2014 and 2015, the Assn. of International Metallizers, Coaters and Laminators (AIMCAL) and the Society of Plastics Engineers (SPE), Bethel, CT, will partner once again to present the Web Coating & Handling Conference USA/FlexPackCon 2016. More than 400 attendees and 75 exhibitors are expected at the technical conference, scheduled for Oct. 9–12, 2016, at the Peabody Hotel in Memphis, TN.

The schedule features 100+ sessions organized in tracks devoted to Web Coating and Laminating, Vacuum Web Coating, Specialty Web Coating, Web Handling, Roll-to-Roll Markets, and Flexible Packaging. Plus, a vendor session allows suppliers to promote their product, service, or company in a three-minute presentation. Attendees also may register for opening-day short courses.

“The SPE FlexPackCon partnership with the AIMCAL Web Coating and Handling Conference has expanded content and participation for both organizations over the past two years,” says Donna S. Davis of ExxonMobil, who serves as general operating chair for SPE FlexPackCon 2016. “Bringing coextrusion and sealing fundamentals to the coating world has been popular. Likewise, learning more about new high-performance coatings and technology has benefited the flexible packagers.…We trust the 2016 program will further this knowledge base, featuring the technology drivers as well as the current innovations.”

To facilitate networking, the conference schedule includes two receptions in the Table Top Exhibition area, the Dr. Bernard Henry Memorial 5k Fun Run, a golf scramble, the John Reading Memorial Scotch Tasting, and local activities.

“Combining AIMCAL’s Web Coating and Handling Conference with SPE’s FlexPackCon has generated rave reviews the past two years,” says AIMCAL president Danis Roy of Terphane. “Attendees love the breadth of topics the combined conference offers and the opportunity to take home ideas for new technology and productivity improvements.”
