Diamond Packaging Big Winner at FSEA

ROCHESTER, NY | Diamond Packaging won five awards in the 22nd Annual FSEA Gold Leaf Awards Competition, the showcase for foil stamping, embossing, and other specialty effects. Awards were announced at the FSEA/IADD Odyssey in Schaumburg, IL, on May 14, 2015.

The competition, which is sponsored by the Foil & Specialty Effects Assn. (FSEA), recognizes creativity and superior execution of designs that reflect positively on the industry as a whole. Entries are judged on several criteria including design, execution, and level of difficulty.

Diamond won a Gold Leaf award in the “Creative Use of Foil/Embossing on a Folding Carton” category for Elizabeth Arden’s White Diamonds Gift Set (Mother’s Day 2015). The QuikSet carton was converted utilizing metallized polyester board and offset printed with transparent gold, transparent purple, dense black, and opaque white inks, in-line with UV high gloss coating. Dome-embossed round and pear diamonds and blind-embossed flower petals add beauty and reinforce the White Diamonds brand. The QuikSet design is said to provide an attractive and economical alternative to rigid set-up boxes, featuring a reinforced base and lid, direct application of graphics and stamping or embossing, flat shipping and storage, and easy set-up.

Diamond also won a Gold Leaf award in the “Calendar” category for its three-month corporate calendar, a long-standing company tradition and popular promotional item given to customers and suppliers. The 2015 stained leaded glass-themed calendar transforms the old world
craftsmanship of a hand-drawn design by infusing it with modern finishing touches. The calendar was converted utilizing Clearwater Candesce (http://www.clearwaterpaper.com/paperboard-products/packaging) SBS paperboard and offset printed with four-color process inks and three spot colors.

Diamond won a Silver Leaf award in the “Best Use of Embossing” category for Five Star Fragrance Company’s Vicky Tiel Paris 21 Bonaparte Gift
Set. The new gift set packaging is said to impart a sense of luxury and reflect the essence of the famed Paris-based American couturier. The QuikSet carton was converted utilizing FSC-certified metallized polyester board and offset printed with transparent gold, purple, brown, dense black, and opaque white inks, in-line with UV matte and UV high-gloss coating. The UV matte coating on the lid reportedly provides a striking contrast to the high gloss purple (21 Bonaparte) and gold (text, logo, stripes) accents surrounding it. Multi-level embossing adds distinction and reinforces 21 Bonaparte as a premium brand.

Company took home a Silver Leaf award in the “Difficult Application of Foil/Embossing on a Folding Carton” category for the L’Oreal Paris RevitaLift Miracle Blur folding carton. The carton was converted utilizing FSC-certified Invercote G paperboard and offset printed with two process colors, transparent gold, dense black, flexo white, and opaque white inks, in-line with UV high gloss coating. Red foil stamping decorates the front and side panels. Holographic foil stamping on the front and top panels gives the illusion of depth and three-dimensionality. Decorative embossing enhances the L’Oreal logo on the front and top panels.

Diamond won a Bronze Leaf award in the “Cold Foil (Sheet or Rotary) on Packaging” category for the L’Oreal Paris Age Perfect Glow Renewal folding carton. The carton was converted utilizing FSC-certified Invercote G paperboard and offset printed with three process colors and two metallic gold inks, in-line with UV gloss coating. Foil stamping with gloss coating enhances the front, side, and top panels. A secondary satin foil stamp on the front and side panels (below the rigid window) provides a striking contrast to the high gloss finish surrounding it. The specially-designed, integrated insert provides protection for the primary container and prominently displays the product through the rigid window.
