Kiefel Thermoformer to be on Display

FREILASSING, GERMANY | Kiefel, represented by the Brueckner Group USA, will present the SPEEDFORMER KMD 90 at NPE, March 23–27 in Orlando, FL. The machine is said to provide an excellent platform to reduce the overall cost of producing thermoformed products.

The pressure forming machine is said to open up a new dimension for the production of plastic packaging items and ensure a higher productivity due to fast cycle times and larger forming area.

Special features include high-output ceramic heaters said to enable fast and efficient energy absorption into the sheet promoting increased cycle speeds with a smaller oven footprint. The servo-driven forming station offers a servo 3rd motion plug drive available for either the upper, lower, or both platens, depending on tool configuration.

With more than 44 tons of clamping pressure, the forming station is capable of delivering up to 75 psi of forming pressure to ensure excellent part quality. Increased press tonnage combined with a larger forming area allows for maximum production output, company says. Another special feature is the ability to accept most quick change tool packages, permitting easy acceptance of existing tools. Ergonomically designed tool loading elevator is said to promote fast tool changeovers.

Company says precise accuracy comes from the combination of kiss cut technology, servo position control, and patented torsion rods. This feature promotes increased knife life, reduced set-up time, and improved part quality by eliminating particulate created during the cutting cycle. The trim station’s high cutting force permits a large amount of knife area, reportedly ensuring excellent utilization of the large tool format.

Features a Siemens Simotion control system and touch screen for easy machine operation.
