Learn About Static

One great opportunity is the:

2012 Electrostatics Joint Conference
Cambridge, Ontario, Canada
June 12 – 14, 2012

Conference Website:
http://www.electrostatics.org/conferences.html

Four good things about this conference are:

  1. The atmosphere and culture of this conference is very open and inviting. Everyone comes to learn new things. You don’t have to know anything about static to come to the conference.

  2. It's a cheap conference. The organizers work very hard to keep the registration fee low and to arrange for for reasonable hotel rates.

  3. The conference has a special session for electrostatic demonstrations schedule for one of the evenings. There will be about 10 demonstration tables set up around the edges of a room with a pizza table in the middle. The idea is for small groups to move from table to table, watch the demos, and talk with the presenters. For example, I’ll be giving a demo on charge accumulation in winding rolls.

Demonstrations are intended to educate and motivate students and teachers from high school to graduate school to learn more about electrostatics. What a great way to learn and even offer advice to presenter on how to improve their demo!

  4. The conference venue is a Holiday Inn about 75 minutes west of downtown Toronto. This is a great place to visit in June!

Please let me know if you are interested. I’d be happy to provide you with more information.
