GN Thermoformer Saves Waste

CHESTER, NOVA SCOTIA, CANADA | GN Thermoforming Equipment offers the cut-in-place GN760 plug-assist thermoformer and common-edge tooling technology said to reduce skeletal web scrap from approximately 30% to 18% when compared to typical form-cut-stack machines.

The GN760 has a forming area of 30 x 21 in. (762 x 533 mm), meeting the demand for medium- and large-volume runs. Reportedly, it offers a reduction in electrical consumption of 35%–50% and uses servo drives for plugging, material transport, stripping, and stacking. A radiant IR heating system has 60 zones, and an electronic regeneration system is said to reduce energy use, resulting in a savings of approximately $9,000/yr.
