Comexi Wins Environmental Award

GIRONA, ITALY | Comexi Group, specializing in machinery solutions for the flexible packaging conversion industry, has received the EMAS (Ecomanagement and Audit Scheme) prize for “Effective eco-innovations supporting improvements in environmental performance” within the category of large companies. The European Commission, in charge of granting the prize, has awarded Comexi Group for its Comexi Offset sustainable printing technology among the six candidates in this category. 

Comexi president Manel Xifra collected the EMAS award during the course of the XVIII European Forum on Eco-innovation that took place recently in Barcelona, Spain.

"We are thrilled to receive this award,” said Xifra at the end of the ceremony. “It is a great recognition for the company’s crucial commitment to incorporate innovation to our objectives in order to transform the flexible packaging sector in a sustainable industry. In its deliberation, the jury assessed the innovative capacity of Comexi Group for driving technologies to reduce or eliminate the use of solvents in the industry of flexible packaging. The Comexi Offset solution is an example of our commitment to reduce the environmental impact of industrial activity and emphasize continuous improvement throughout the production process.”

The Comexi OFFSET CI8 is a variable format press with central impression drum designed for printing on elastic materials. Company reports it is designed to reduce environmental impact, increase energy efficiency, and offer high print quality and production flexibility to the time to market. Following its launch in 2012 in the market, Comexi Group is commissioning the press in Spain, Austria, Middle East, France, Poland, and China. 

EMAS is a voluntary tool that enables organizations to take on full responsibility for environment issues, improve their environmental behavior, and set an example with their public environmental statement (impacts, goals and indicators, improvements obtained, etc.).
