The Converter Pack

Show Preview

Maybe they can’t sing, dance, or tell racy jokes, but a new “Pack” is coming to Las Vegas. (Actually, maybe some of them can!) The city will serve as the exciting backdrop for the debut of Converting & Package Printing Expo (CPP Expo), slated for September 26–28 at the Sands Expo & Convention Center.

With an expected attendance of more than 8,000, show organizer H.A. Bruno hopes to add excitement to the trade show arena within the converting/package printing industry. The show’s tag line asks prospective attendees to “Run with the Pack Straight to Vegas.”

Says Leo Nadolske, president of H.A. Bruno, “Today’s most progressive package printers and converters and their trade associations once again believe that with contemporary adaptations, an all-inclusive trade show is the correct method of operation. That is why both package printers and converters need a fresh trade show and want to be part of the “Pack.”

One-Stop Shopping
Nadolske’s “one-stop shopping” approach will include more than 150 exhibitors, an informative conference program, along with the converting/package printing industry’s top associations holding several events in conjunction with CPP Expo during what some have dubbed “Industry Week 2005.”

Associations holding events that week in Las Vegas include TAPPI; the Assn. of Metallizers, Coaters and Laminators (AIMCAL); The Converting Equipment Mfrs. Assn. (CEMA); the Assn. of Independent Corrugated Converters (AICC); Radtech; and the Adhesive and Sealant Council.

In addition, CPP Expo is participating in a cooperative marketing agreement that promotes crossover participation with Pack Expo Las Vegas, produced by the Packaging Machinery Mfrs. Inst. (PMMI) and being held concurrently at the Las Vegas Convention Center. Pack Expo Las Vegas historically attracts more than 30,000 attendees, 10% of whom are searching for leading-edge converting solutions, according to H.A. Bruno. This cooperative agreement with Pack Expo will include:

  • Honoring badges for respective events.
  • Promoting attendance at both venues.
  • Supplying information counters for both events at each venue.
  • Offering complimentary shuttle service between venues.
  • Providing tools for ease of navigation among all converting- related association events taking place in Las Vegas the week of September 26.
“With travel budgets and resources for education and research becoming tighter for converting operations, being able to provide basically ‘one-stop-shopping’ for thousands of converters and packaging professionals will be the key to the success of this event,” says Nadolske. “We are bringing the industry and supply chain together for the first time in decades.”

Adds PMMI president Chuck Yuska, “Offering attendees, who are in many cases my supplier members’ customers, optimal service is one of PMMI’s main goals. This [agreement] not only provides obvious cost savings but also entitles all attendees to tools such as ‘My Pack Expo’ that allow for extended pre-show education and efficiencies in time.”

Both show management teams also have extended to TAPPI conference delegates (approximately 1,600) complimentary registration/admission to all exhibits, which collectively will cover 550,000 sq ft in both convention centers.
