PVC Production Increases

ARLINGTON, VA—Polyvinyl chloride (PVC) resin production in the U.S. rose 8.8% to 16 billion lbs. in 2004. Statistics compiled by the American Plastics Council (APC) show a 6.6% percent growth rate in total sales and captive use of PVC resin in 2004. The total PVC resin demand including exports in 2004 exceeded that of 2003 by nearly 983 million lbs. APC also reported that the strong PVC demand in Asia and Latin America improved U.S. PVC exports in 2004.
