Chinaplas 2004 Breaks Attendance Record; More Than 57,000 Flock to Shanghai for Plastics Show

CUPERTINO, CA, USA—Chinaplas 2004 concluded July 2, and the show's sponsor says this year's edition of the plastics and rubber trade event was a record breaker. According to Chinaplas 2004 sponsor Adsale Exhibition Services Ltd., more than 57,000 attended the exposition at the Shanghai New International Expo Center, Pudong, Shanghai, PR, China. "The show as well-attended by a total of 57,751 trade visitors, of which 7,028 (12.2 percent of total number of visitors) came from more than 50 overseas countries and regions," states Adsale's release about the event.

Chinaplas 2004 featured 937 exhibitors from 26 countries/regions, reports Adsale, with Austria, Canada, Germany, Italy, PR China and Taiwan Province, the UK, and the USA all showing a strong presence at the show. "With an exhibition of area of 60,000 square meters, Chinaplas is the largest international plastics and rubber trade fair in the Asia Pacific region," states Adsale. "Exhibitors were generally satisfied with the show scale and both the quality and quantity of visitors," adds the sponsor.

Adsale Exhibition's Chinasplas 2004 stats include:

  • 63.8% visitors were manufacturers
  • 16.9% were importers/exporters/wholesalers/agents
  • 6.3% were retailers
  • 4.1% were from research and technology centers
In addition, visitors came from various industries and sectors, including plastic products manufacturing (durable goods); packaging; building materials; brewery and beverage; food; auto parts; electronic products; toys; chemical products; and medical equipment.

According to Adsale, an on-site visitor survey reported that 97% of interviewees agreed that Chinaplas 2004 was an influtential trade show in China. "More than 80% of interviewees ranked the quality of exhibits, exhibitors, and overall show performance as good or excellent," states the sponsor.

Adsale adds that some Chinaplas exhibitors this year indicated that the annual venue would be their third prioritized trade show to participate in—followed by the K Show in Düsseldorf, Germany, and NPE in Chicago, IL, USA.
