Vacumet Atlanta-Area Operation Expansion Nearing Completion

PRESS RELEASE

ATLANTA, GA, USA—Vacumet reports its new operation, located in Austell, GA (near Atlanta), is nearing completion. According to the metallizer, the plans for the expansion of its Atlanta-area operations were announced more than a year ago; the company says the new capacity at its new building in Austell—less than five miles from its present operation on Bakers Ferry Road—will be on-stream by November 15 this year.

Vacumet explains its "new capacity" at its Austell plant is comprised of a new Galileo 130-in.-wide metallizer and a slitter with a 40-in. outer diameter. In addition, the company says it anticipates the installation of another 130-in.-wide Galileo metallizer and the installation of second slitter within the next two years. "These Galileo metallizers have plasma capability, with all the state-of-the-art [technology]," notes Bob Korowicki, Vacumet president.

According to the company, Vacumet's Bakers Ferry Road plant is slated to close by March 2005, "allowing ample time to transition. After start-up [of the Austell location, we] will transition several slitters and metallizers from the Bakers Ferry Road location," adds Vacumet.

In addition, Vacumet announces the start-up of a Connecticut operation, at 300 Prestige Park Road, in East Hartford, on September 1, 2004. "This facility will initially house one 86-in. metallizer and several slitters, and it will be a satellite manufacturing site managed from the company's Windsor, CT, USA, location.

States Korowicki: "It is our intention to continue supporting the growth of our customer base by expanding to meet [customers] needs. With this capacity addition, by November 2004, Vacumet's metallizing capacity will be increased by more than 10,000,000 pounds per year."
