Chinese Printer Adds Digital System
Printer Yun-Ban Co. has installed a Nipson VaryPress digital production printing system integrated with a Taiyo offset printer, reportedly the first such system sold in the People's Republic of China.
Located in Lian Yun Gang City, Jiaugsu Province, Yun-Ban specializes in forms printing such as taxation invoices and computer forms. The company is using the Nipson system to produce scratch-off invoices for the service industry. Each invoice has a scratch-off area that may reveal a hidden prize for customers.
Because the Nipson press uses a non-heat process to fuse toner, it is said to be ideal for this type of application, in which variable data are combined with special substrates.
The VaryPress prints at 480 dpi at speeds to 394 fpm (120 mpm) on paper as light as 40-240 gsm, polyester, and other plastic materials, foils, thermo-sensitive and carbonless stocks, and self-adhesive labels. The printing width goes to 18 in. (457.2 mm).
