Coating module allows in-house production
- March 01, 1995
The in-line coating module retrofits to most presses and web-handling equipment, allowing label producers to convert off-the-shelf face stocks and release liners into custom, application-specific label stock. With this in-house capability, labels can be developed without relying on supplier inventories or production and shipping schedules. Inventory costs are reduced because stock is created as needed. The design of the module provides the operator with a full view of the coated web during setup and while making on-the-fly coating adjustments with easy-to-reach handwheels. A built-in angle indicator with locking bolts provides the operator with a fixed reference point when making coating-head angle adjustments. Options include a post-chilling roll to improve handling of temperature-sensitive webs and programmable logic control to match adhesive delivery to press speeds or stops.
