FTA Forum Set to Debunk Flexo Myths

BOHEMIA, NY | The Flexographic Technical Assn. FTA will be debunking myths at one of its sessions during the 2014 Annual Forum, April 27–30; Hilton Baltimore, Baltimore, MD.

Among the myths that will be disputed, debated and debunked at the all-new Flexo Mythbusters session: It’s nearly impossible to steal print jobs back to flexo from gravure. A 60-deg hex cell shape is the best anilox engraving. You can’t get an accurate ink standard without putting the sample on press.

Forum/session chairs Pepper Stokes, Robbie Fantastic Flexibles, and Jessica Harkins Harrell, Anderson & Vreeland, issued this warning: Do not come to this session if you are not prepared to hear data that refutes your most closely held beliefs.

A wide array of topics related to flexographic printing will be covered, including high definition printing, food packaging, mounting tapes, vignettes, spot colors, measurement tools, taboo processes, anilox engraving, UV ink curing, ink temperatures, photopolymer plates, coating and laminations, and flexo versus competing print processes.

“This session is going to be one for the record books,” says Stokes. “We’ll shed light on what is fact and what is fabrication, and we’ll do so in an engaging and hilarious manner. This is going to be 120 minutes of straight debunking and clarification, so find a seat up front and bring an open mind and a willingness to look at things a different way.”

Held in conjunction with the Forum will be the INFO*FLEX exhibition, April 28–29, featuring a show floor filled with products from virtually every market segment of the industry, including more than 30 conventional and digital press manufacturers. Each full Forum registration includes complimentary admission to INFO*FLEX.
