Heidelberg Druckmaschinen has released a study confirming that its “customers set great store by environmental protection,” reports Dr. Jürgen Rautert, director for engineering and manufacturing at Heidelberg. “We can show that protecting the environment and earning money are not mutually exclusive. In fact, the investments required to secure a better future for our planet pay for themselves very quickly.” Among the company's efforts in its products are features to reduce paper waste, reduce power consumption, and reduce emissions. Rautert says the company has worked for the past 11 years to make its press production processes environmentally friendly. “However,” he says, “the focus now is on minimizing the presses' environmental impact when in use at customers' sites. … Our Print Media Academy network also provides support for the implementation of appropriate production methods.”
