Equipment Line-Up Announced for the 2011 IADD•FSEA Odyssey

CRYSTAL LAKE, IL | A strong starting line-up has been announced for the 2011 IADD·FSEA Odyssey, to be held May 4 - 6, 2011, at the Convention Ctr. in Nashville, TN.  The 2011 Odyssey, with a theme of "New Game, New Rules," provides a game plan to attendees in the fields of diecutting/diemaking, print finishing, folding carton, corrugated and specialty markets, beginning with up-to-date equipment and the latest technologies.

Among several pieces of state-of-the-art machinery featured in educational sessions on the Techshop floor, the Odyssey has announced that Heidelberg = will showcase the Varimatrix 105 C/CS. Built on quality, flexibility, cost-effectiveness, the Varimatrix 105 C/CS diecuts and embosses a wide range of stock from paper and paperboard to corrugated. It boasts speeds up to 7,500 sheets per hour and a maximum cutting force of 331 tons. Sheet formats range from 14.57-in. x 15.75-in. up to 29.53-in. x 41.34-in.

As a cost-effective solution for diecutting and embossing, the Varimatrix 105 C/CS has user guidance via a touch screen display, ensuring easy handling. Additional features such as a variable chase, a pre-piling device, reversible side lays, and double-sheet detection in the feeder itself ensure quick makeready.

Also on display will be the Bobst EXPERTCUT 106 PER die-cutter, incorporating the latest diecutting and embossing technology for 41-in. diecutters with blanking and full sheet delivery; the Bobst EXPERTFOLD 110 A-2 CS folder-gluer; the Gerber Innovations Combination Laser and Profile Routing Systems; the NSF Elite high-speed foil fusing press from Therm-O-Type; the Rotary Converting Platform (RCP) from Preco Industries; the AutoClamTM diecutting, foil stamping and embossing press from My Press Needs; as well as other machinery from Adams Technologies, Associated Pacific Machinery and more.

The Odyssey's one-of-a-kind Techshop environment simulates a working production shop floor where technical sessions on diecutting, diemaking, folding/gluing, foil stamping/embossing, and other print finishing processes are taught on-press throughout the three-day event. Cutting-edge video equipment and live-action feeds allow attendees to see all action on the presses up-close and in real time.
