Yupo Expands Converting Industry Offerings with Kimberly-Clark Buys

CHESAPEAKE, VA, USA—Yupo Corp. of America recently announced the purchase of the in-mold label (IML) and non-label specialty paper businesses from Kimberly-Clark Corp. According to Yupo, this follows the co.'s purchase of Kimberly-Clark's direct thermal paper business in December 2001. The company's products, formerly available under Kimberly-Clark's Kimdura brand, now will be available under Yupo Corp.'s YUPO brand synthethic paper.

"The purchase is a result of our desire to help our customers gain a competitive advantage in their markets through the delivery of higher quality products and services," says Osamu Saski, president and CEO of Yupo Corp. America. "Packagers and converters can expect the same high-quality products, but with a new suite of more responsive services. This combination will help them gain a competitive edge," adds Saski.

The buyout will extend Yupo's reach from the commercial printing industry into the technical papers market; Yupo has been supplying the base sheet for Kimberly-Clark's Kimdura brand for 30 years, says the synthetic paper manufacturer.

"This move reflects [our] commitment to providing labeling and packaging professionals with a superior product backed by a higher level of service," adds Yupo. Visit Yupo Corp. of America on the web at yupo.com.
