Nordmeccanica Receives AIMCAL Innovation Award

FORT MILL, SC | The Assn. of Industrial Metallizers, Coaters & Laminators (AIMCAL) recently presented a Technology of the Year Award to Nordmeccanica at its annual Management Meeting in La Jolla, CA. The company was honored in the Coating Laminating Category for its three-ply solvent-free laminator called One Shot.

The judges liked the equipment's ability to streamline the lamination process and its sustainability benefits. "Eliminating solvents is [a] great step forward," noted one member of the judging panel.

The patented One Shot is designed to perform a three-ply, solvent-free lamination for flexible substrates in one single pass, using solvent-free adhesives on both coating stations. Target is achieved by bringing three substrates at one single lamination nip. The location of the rewind, immediately after the single lamination nip, allows for perfect control of the process, according to the company, and stability of the laminated compound despite the very low shear resistance allowed by solvent-free adhesives.
