Ahlstrom Receives Environmental Award

HELSINKI, FINLAND | Ahlstrom, a leader in high-performance fiber-based materials, has received the French Trophy of Ecological and Economical Technologies for its photoctalytic filter media used in the first anti-odor building. The competition was organized by ADEME (French environment and energy control agency) and the prize was presented during Pollutec Horizons 2007.

This anti-odor building was comprised of the filter media integrated in the flexible wall structure. This complex captures and destroys the organic pollutants, purifying the air. This new technology consists of a photocatalytic media combining a layer of active carbon with a nonwoven that fixes the titanium dioxide, a natural catalyst. See ahlstrom.com.
