FPA Releases Agendas for the 2007 Safety Conference & Environmental Summit

LINTHICUM, MD—The Flexible Packaging Assn.'s annual Safety Conference and Environmental Summit will be held at the Trade Winds Resort in St. Petersburg Beach, FL, January 24-26, 2007. These key FPA events include interactive presentations from industry and government agency officials focusing on regulatory, safety and environmental issues, and topics of importance to the flexible packaging industry.

The Environmental Summit will include a key presentation on sustainable packaging and its emerging importance in the marketplace. This two-part session will explain what sustainable packaging is, along with how and when it will impact industry manufacturers; provide a review of the WalMart Scorecards; and detail the consumer segments interested in and driven by sustainability. Presentations from U.S. Environmental Protection Agency officials during the Environmental Summit will detail the U.S. EPA’s Air Outlook and Priorities for 2007, the Agency’s Response to Title V Task Force Recommendations, elements of the U.S. EPA’s Air Quality Program Management, and a NSR Reforms update. The Summit also will feature presentations on Title V Permitting Options, Environmental Reporting under the Sarbanes-Oxley Act, and The Impact of Registration, Evaluation, Authorization of Chemicals (REACH).

The Safety Conference will cover a series of industry-related topics and issues, including Process Safety Management, Electrostatic & Fire Hazards in Manufacturing Operations, Explosion Prevention, Managing the Highly Protected Risk (HPR), Ergonomics, Lacerations, Safe Best Practices, Effective “Back to Work Programs”: Cost, Process & Behavior Model, and Designing an Effective Forklift Program & Developing Safe Pedestrian/Forklift Traffic Patterns.
