Crowell Celebrates 100 Years

PRESS RELEASE

NEWPORT, DE—Crowell Corp., the oldest existing gummed tape manufacturer, is celebrating its 100th anniversary. Crowell is best known for its complete line of gummed sealing tapes and vast line of cohesive products. The milestone is a particularly sweet one, as in 1952 there were 31 gummed tape manufacturers in the United States and today only three.

The company started in 1906 in Bush Terminal, Brooklyn, NY, after Charles Crowell left Nashua Corp. and originally was known as Lang & Gros. Its present facility of 105,000 sq. ft. on five-plus acres boasts five railroad car doors and eight truck doors.

For a list of the company's extensive history and interesting facts (i.e. the company hired the industry's first saleswoman in 1962), visit crowellcorp.com.
