Latin Americans Crowd Into Brazil Summit

PRESS RELEASE

SAO PAULO, BRAZIL—The second Latin American Label Summit took place in May in Sao Paulo, Brazil. The event was well-supported with 580 visitors, 18 speakers, nearly 60 exhibitors, and numerous associations and media in attendance. Delegates came from all across Latin America—including Brazil, Argentina, Chile, Colombia, Paraguay, Peru, and Venezuela.

The conference gave delegates an overview of market issues and new material and technology trends, as well as a chance to hear case studies and to understand the end users’ perspective. Speakers covered current hot issues such as smart labels, RFID, innovations and trends in materials, servo, digital printing, Latin American label converter’s requirements, and end-user perspectives. Avery Dennison’s Gustavo J. Pérez gave the keynote address. Other high profile speakers included: Gonzalo Fernando, Unilever; Jeffrey Arippol, Novelprint; Raul Matos, Karville Development LLC; Federico d’Annunzio, Gidue; and Christian Menegon, HP Indigo.

Some reactions to the show are below:

“In terms of the shrink sleeve business, the Latin American market is positioned for great growth. The Label Summit contributed toward the growth through education and the discussion of specialty topics for shrink sleeves."
—Raul Matos, Karville Development

"Through the Latin American Label Summit, we got a better perception of what the challenges are for the local industry in Brazil, but also what the brand owners require and how to serve them. We met, all at the same time and same place, the vast majority of the players of that industry. We learnt, exchanged and established business relationships. It has been a great communicative and informative platform."
—Christian Menegon, HP Indigo

“Label Summit Latin America 2005 was an ideal networking event to improve customer relationships and to exchange experiences and trends from around the globe. A great opportunity to get a better understanding of the emerging market place in Latin America thanks to the great number of visitors and their big interest in latest die cutting technology.”
—Lars Beck, Kocher + Beck

The Latin American Label Summit 2006 will take place May 23-24 in Mexico City at the María Isabel Sheraton in Mexico City. In May 2007 the Latin American Label Summit will return to Brazil.
