Fox Valley Technical College Adds PCMC Avanti

GREEN BAY, WI, USA—Fox Valley Technical College (FVTC), Appleton, WI, reports the installation of a Paper Converting Machine Co. (PCMC) Avanti central impression (CI) wide-web press. At a recent dedication ceremony, FVTC addressed more than 80 industry representatives.

Several entities helped coordinate FVTC's fundraising campaign, including the Flexographic Technical Association (FTA), FVTC’s Flexographic Education and Research Center, and the FVTC Foundation. The campaign committee was chaired by Jack Schloesser, president, OEC Graphics, Oshkosh, WI, who also happens to be one of the key financial contributors for the $1.85 million (US) flexographic press. In addition, PCMC provided FVTC with a significant discount.

FVTC says it's eager to embark on what it hopes will be an "exciting time for the college, the students, and the packaging industry at large." The college sees their purchase as a positive step not only for the school but for the converting industry; students receive the benefit of education on state-of-the-art equipment, while paper, ink, film, plate, and prepress companies will benefit from the skills these future employees will gain. Moreover, FVTC will offer their facility to equipment manufacturers as a product demonstration site to exhibit the equipment to potential customers while in use.
