Kodak to Show New Flexo System at drupa

DÜSSELDORF, GERMANY | Kodak will display the new FLEXCEL NX System ’16 at drupa 2016, May 31–June 10 in Düsseldorf.

The system, powered by an expanding NX Advantage feature set, reportedly includes features to help printers achieve print production efficiencies and quality. The system builds on company’s award-winning NX Advantage technology, which includes advanced plate surface patterning capabilities said to improve ink transfer efficiency in the broadest range of flexo printing applications. Now included are system features include NX tags for the application of multiple patterns on a single plate layout, and Advanced Edge Definition, company’s patented technology that controls ink flow at the edge of objects, reportedly resulting in cleaner print and greater visual edge definition.

The NX Implementation Services and NX Certification Program, is designed to bring the full value of FLEXCEL NX System ‘16 to the pressroom. Company says the NX Implementation Service will enable printers to unlock the full advantage of its plate technology with experienced technical specialists who provide an onsite service to help customers identify how they can make improvements in print quality, cost, and productivity.

The new system is said to deliver advanced print capabilities with a simple plate portfolio. Imaging and material technology enable the system to produce plates for the full gamut of flexo printing applications using two plate material types only, giving prepress operations the opportunity to reduce inventory, errors, and complexity.

For flexible packaging printers, the system is said to deliver ink savings, faster press operation, use of fewer colors, and longer lasting plates in narrow, mid, and wide web operations.
