Nilpeter to Show Integrated Inkjet Press

SLAGELSE, DENMARK | Nilpeter will launch the PANORAMA product line, including the five-color DP-3 UV-Inkjet, at Labelexpo Europe, September 29–October 2, in Brussels, Belgium.

The new press is said to combine the company’s expertise in web handling technology with advanced inkjet printing and workflow with operational benefits that include high-performance uptime, through close integration of digital print and label converting.

Designed for fast setups and quick job turnarounds, the line produces a variety of label jobs in short-to-medium run lengths with minimum waste, company says, noting that users are well placed to meet brand owners’ demands for high quality labels in smaller quantities, in line with global trends towards product diversification.

Company has adapted several of its in-line finishing modules to digital production. They include a web in-feed, varnishing unit, the QC-Die-cutting system, smart matrix stripping, length slitting, varnishing unit, and small roll dual rewinds. A mark sensor allows the precise re-inserting of webs for reverse printing, or overprinting of preprinted webs, including variable data.

The PANORAMA line has a maximum printing width of 322 mm (12.67 in.) to 350 mm wide web. It prints up to 50 mpm (164 fpm) using paper or film label laminates from 90–350 microns. This level of productivity equates to 16.1 sq m/min (173 sq). High-definition UV-inks are used for CMYK, with an opaque white ink as standard for printing transparent films and metallic foils.

The DP-3 print engine reportedly delivers consistent color output using single-pass 600-dpi piezo printheads with four-level greyscale imaging. A minimum droplet size of 3 picolitres allows small-dot halftones for true flesh tones and fine vignettes. The digital front-end uses what is described as an advanced workflow management system. Users can match the majority of Pantone colors for spot colors to gain a wide color gamut, aided by a color editing tool.

Company will support the PackPrint Workshop in Hall 8 at the show, giving live demonstrations of the FA-4* UV-flexo press. Press handles labels as well as ers flexible packaging in short runs with various repeat lengths. Sleeve system permits an extra-short web path, with easy loading of tooling and embellishments. The FA-4* has a web width of 420 mm (16.5 in.) and a top speed of 175 mpm (574 fpm).
