FTA Announces 2015 Award Winners

 

NASHVILLE, TN | The Flexographic Technical Association (FTA) reports that its 2015 Excellence in Flexography Awards saw a large surge in entries, fierce competition, and some of the best print jobs in the event’s 55-year history. Winners were unveiled May 3 at FTA’s Annual Awards Banquet in Nashville.

Entries were appraised for vibrant color, fine dots, seamless fades, and exacting registrations, among other characteristics. The association awarded 106 medals and awards.

Taking home “Best of Show” honors in the 2015 Excellence in Flexography Awards were the following:

• Sunshine FPC for the Smoke Salmon Red Caviar Wrapper

• Golden Era Group for the Kellogg’s Ke Festive Nine-9 Coco Pops Cereal Box

• Great Little Box Co. for the Vega One All-In-One Nutritional Shake Label

• Wellpappe Auerswalde for the Samsung Curved 55-in. UHDTV Box

• International Paper’s Preprint Liner Division for the Avocados 5 Down Tray

• Mac Papers Envelope Converters for the Dish Game Of Thrones Envelope

Nuova GIDUE received the 2015 Technical Innovation Award in the Heavy  Metal category for its Digital Flexo Excellence technology. According to FTA, the technology combines “the best aspects of flexo and digital. It’s aim to optimize the flexo print process is accomplished by a design that automates common, time intensive and operator dependent press tasks, which results in higher productivity, lowered costs, greater production flexibility, consistent quality, and ease of operation.”

Paul Lancelle, technical specialist for All Printing Resources, was inducted into the FTA Hall of Fame.

Jennye Scott, VP of creative services at Berry Plastics Corp., and Richard Black, director of digital solutions at All Printing Resources, were named recipients of the 2015 President’s Award. The honor is given annually to one or more individuals who understand the philosophy of leadership and who commit to taking on the responsibility of being an industry driver.

Advance Packaging Corporation was presented with the 2015 Sustainability Excellence Award “for choosing to go above and beyond in its consideration of the environment and its dedication to sustainably focused business operations.” In 2005 the company broke ground on a massive 425,000-sq-ft manufacturing space in Grand Rapids, MI. FTA says the company created a facility that would shrink its environmental footprint while allowing its physical, production, and geographic footprints to grow.
