Pregis Marks Ten years in Business

DEERFIELD, IL | Pregis LLC, a North American supplier of protective packaging solutions, is commemorating its ten-year anniversary, which it says has been built on more than 50-plus years of legacy predecessor companies and brands.

The company is kicking off its anniversary year by launching next-generation inflatable and foam-in-place solutions. These include an intelligent interface for IntelliPack foam-in-place equipment (FIP) and AirSpeed Axis, HLX, and HC Performance films.

During the past decade, Pregis has invested in multiple new material technologies and systems solutions, as well as in acquisitions designed to support the protective packaging needs of the marketplace. Milestones include the acquisition of IntelliPack (FIP systems) in 2010, Inter Pac (polyethylene sheet foam) in 2011 and Surface Guard (protective film, cohesive material, and single-face corrugated) in 2013.

Pregis president and CEO Kevin Baudhuin says, “We are excited to celebrate our tenth anniversary. The company was built on a foundation of more than 50-plus years of success under various names including Valcour, AVI, Richter, Plymouth Plastics, DuPont Microfoam, Tenneco, and Pactiv. I’m proud of our customers and employees who have helped to make us a protective packaging industry leader over the past ten years.”

Baudhuin adds, “As we look to the future, it is important to ensure that Pregis remains a financially strong company. Over the past several years we have experienced significant increases in our operating costs in areas such as utilities, freight, and wage inflation. Margin management and pricing for full value will be very important as we continue to make significant investments in innovation and technology. These advancements are critical for meeting our customers’ evolving needs.”

In materials and equipment, Pregis reports it was the first-to-market in 2008 with the first-ever, high-recycled content, air-cushioning bubble (Astro-Bubble Green). Other introductions over the past decade include: AirSpeed hybrid cushioning systems, IntelliPack FIP solutions, GeoSpeed Quantum compact, paper void-fill equipment, and new high-pressure, patent-pending films for inflatable cushioning.

The company also reports it is dedicated to providing leading-edge service solutions. An example is the PX3 predictive tech support system that combines software, personnel, parts management, and a 24/7 service hot line to anticipate and predict machinery service needs well before an expensive downtime event occurs.
