Fibrafil S.A. Invests in Mark Andy Press

ST. LOUIS, MO | Fibrafil S.A., a modern label printer based out of Lima, Perú, has purchased a Performance Series P5 flexo press from Mark Andy. This is the first Performance Series press to be sold into the Latin American country.

The Performance Series P5 will be the second narrow-web label press for the Lima facility, which began its converting business by producing labels for its locally produced agro-industrial products. Quickly Fibrafil realized the potential in the Peruvian label market, prompting investment in additional presses and support equipment including a rewinder, plate mounter, and anilox cleaning system. This investment has paid off for Fibrafil, making them one of the biggest players in the region.

“The Mark Andy Performance Series impressed us with its expansive capabilities and waste savings,” stated Nicolas Zaidan, general manager, Grupo Fibrafil. “We are proud to have the first Performance Series press in Perú and believe this investment will help us meet the quick turnaround requirements of our customers, while also allowing us additional capacity to further expand our business.”

Facilitated by the local Mark Andy distributor, Ferrostaal Perú S.A.C., the Performance Series P5 is a high-efficiency narrow web flexo press that will focus on production of labels to meet the growing demand in the region. The 17-in. (430 mm) UV/water-based combination press is equipped with nine print stations, chilled impression rolls, pre-register, auto-register, and the innovation award-winning Quick Change Die Cut (QCDC) die station. Rail mounted accessories include a web turnbar, cold foil, and CT lamination capabilities. Intended to primarily support pressure-sensitive label production, the machine is also capable of running PET materials at speeds up to 750 fpm (230 m/min).
