PPC Joins Fly-In to Discuss Forest Products Issues

SPRINGFIELD, MA | The Paperboard Packaging Council (PPC) reports that its VP and chief of staff Lou Kornet, representing the PPC’s Government Affairs Advisory Committee, recently traveled to Washington DC to participate in the 2013 Forest Products Industry Fly-In sponsored by the American Forest & Paper Association (AF&PA) and the American Wood Council (AWC).

The Fly-In was designed to give participants a forum to discuss key issues for the forest products industry with legislators at Capitol Hill

In attendance were joint PPC and AF&PA member companies Clearwater Paper Corporation, Graphic Packaging Intl., Georgia-Pacific, MeadWestvaco Corp., International Paper, and PaperWorks Industries.

The group of 45 forest products CEOs and executives met with more than 70 members of the Senate and House of Representatives to review various topics, including truck weight policy, tax reform, postal reform, air regulations, paper options resolution, and the carbon neutrality of biomass.

“PPC is committed to staying abreast of key legislative and regulatory initiatives impacting our industry,” says Kornet. “We were pleased to join this industry-wide effort to educate legislators on the tremendous contributions our industry makes to both the national economy and local communities.”
