Sealed for Security
- Published: November 01, 2009
SecureOTC from Colbert Packaging Corp., Lake Forest, IL, is designed for over-the-counter medications. The patent-pending, brandable package combines a blister card within an outer folding carton for an all-in-one solution for tablets, capsules, vitamins, and other pills. The blister card is securely sealed within the outer carton, which prevents retail pilferage while promoting proper storage. To open, the consumer lifts the back flap and pulls a zipper to access the blister card. This process allows the medication to be removed without damaging the outer carton that typically contains essential drug facts, dosing instructions, warnings, and expiration dates. RF-EAS source tagging sensors also can be applied during production for further pilferage protection.
