Encyclopedia of Labels Coming
CLEVELAND, OH, USA—Labelexpo will launch the first-ever encyclopedia for the label industry in conjunction with Labelexpo Americas 2004, taking place September 13-16 at the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center in Rosemont, IL.

The 220-p. Encyclopedia of Labels and Label Technology will include traditional label industry terms, as well as explanations and terms relating to coding, variable printing, digital design and printing, printing processes, UV curing, label application, source tagging and EAS technology, intelligent and security labels, smart labels and RFID, legislation, and computer and Internet terminology.

The encyclopedia will cover all the major label technologies and all the main label printing processes, as well as providing guidelines on global label legislation for food, drugs, cosmetics, aerosol, chemicals, and clothing.

Adhesive Film Suited for Auto Assembly
WINDSOR, CT, USA—Dublfilm S812A from Scapa North America is a thin polyester film coated on both sides with a high tack, high peel acrylic p-s adhesive. Designed for automotive assembly, bonding to EPDM rubbers, and for fabricating foam parts used in NVH applications, it is said to adhere well to low surface energy plastics, including untreated polyolefins. Adhesive reportedly offers excellent resistance to environmental extremes, and the polyester film carrier provides strength and dimensional stability.


Lab Heads into Future with RFID
DALLAS, TX, USA—In its recently launched RFID Future Lab, Wincor Nixdorf is demonstrating how radio frequency identification technology can improve the management of goods within the retail supply chain while improving customer service by personalizing the shopping experience and streamlining the payment process.

Working with Texas Instruments RFid Systems, Wincor Nixdorf designed the Future Lab to showcase how RFID created efficiencies in key areas within a retail clothing store, including when a shipment is received at the dock door, as items are labeled with prices in the back room, for in-store merchandising, in the fitting rooms, and at the checkout.
