In-Mold Decorating Assn. executive director Ron Schultz of the In-Mold Decorating Assn. (IMDA) reminds prospective competition entrants there are now only two weeks left to reach the entry deadline on July10th, extended from the original June 30th deadline. He explains that winners are chosen for creativity in design, engineering, and innovation as the best in the following nine categories:

  • Part Design
  • Thin Wall Packaging
  • Injection Molded Durable (IMD ) Part
  • Injection Molded IML Package
  • Label Design
  • Blow Molded Part/Package
  • Product Family (common style or brand)
  • Thermoformed IML Package
  • Thermoformed Durable IMD Part

Eager to review and consider your submissions are judges Clare Goldsberry, senior editor of Modern Plastics Worldwide; Robert Neilley, principal of RN Marketing; and myself Yolanda Simonsis, president and editorial director of Paper, Film & Foil Converter (PFFC), a YTC Media Inc. property. For past PFFC coverage of these competitions, click here.

For as many judging panels on which I've participated, I'm amazed more companies don't seek this route to promote their innovative ideas. Websites and magazines pick up these stories from industry associations to give the submitting companies free press, but what's nicer is that well deserved recognition is given for all the hard work a company's employees put into developing the new idea for its benefit!

Give someone a pat on the back! Start by entering the IMDA Competition before June 30th.
