Klockner Displays New Packaging Materials

PRESS RELEASE

GORDONSVILLE, VA—Kloöckner Pentaplast will display a range of new packaging materials during Pack Expo 2006, October 29-November 2 at McCormick Place in Chicago. Among the newest products on display are Klöckner's Pentapharm alfoil SG films with enhanced slip properties for pharmaceutical and nutraceutical products, Pentaprint E746/92 AS7 high-clarity polyester shrink-label films for full-body shrink-sleeve label and multi-pack applications, and Pentaform "Easy-Form" high-performance vinyl films for face seal blister and clamshell packaging applications.

The Pentapharm alfoil reportedly provides excellent surface slip characteristics (low coefficient of friction) as compared to standard PVdC coated film. Available in two- or three-layer structures for medium- to high-moisture barrier, the films also are said to have better thermoforming properties. They prevent blocking on pre-heat plates, and no modifications for the heat plates are required. The films have improved film and blister-to-blister nest properties for higher filling rates for gel caps and other pharmaceuticals. These films are sealable to all standard vinyl-compatible lidstocks, are available in transparent clear and opaque white colors, and are compliant with U.S. FDA requirements for use in pharmaceutical packaging.
